You might be interested in Bitcoin if you like cryptography, distributed peer-to-peer systems, or economics. A large percentage of Bitcoin enthusiasts are libertarians, though people of all political philosophies are welcome.

The Blacklist: Finding a Bitcoin Friendly Bank in Australia
My name is MJ, but most know me by my business Bitcoin Babe. I am a Bitcoin Trader that operates from LocalBitcoins, and have done so over the past 3 years. Today I received my 27th Ban from a Bank for operating a Bitcoin business. While this doesn't really come as a surprise for some - or for me for that fact, It is starting to become a concern, considering the amount of banks I have been banned or rejected from is starting to outweigh the amount of banks I have left to open accounts with. Below is a link to an excel spreadsheet I made this evening, listing all 135 Banks and Credit unions currently operational within Australia - of those, 64 do not offer Business banking products, leaving me with a selection of 35 banks. The Blacklist: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/170SvrlbOrrYsvPJirB4_628svwQAuAxm1IILWnELJ5U/edit#gid=0 Over the next day or so, I will be submitting 35 applications for business accounts with these institutions, to see if the accept or reject my request for a bank account based upon being a Bitcoin Business, and I will be updating the list as I go along. There doesn't seem to be a lot of information out there about finding an account that Bitcoin enthusiasts can safely use, without the fear of a highly judgemental ban hammer coming down on them. So I hope this information comes in handy for someone. Some good discussion topics surrounding the application process: * Would it serve me better to enquire via email or phone call? * Should I mention my KYC/AML/CTF policies straight up in order to combat the issue of applications being rejected due to KYC/AML/CTF issues? * Is it unethical to lie about your business activity in order to get an account opened? (I.e: saying your selling goods online, instead of Bitcoin) For proof that this is a legitimate issue, here is an interview I did with the ABC back in 2015: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-09-22/bitcoin-traders-claim-discrimination-by-australias-banks/6795782

Full post: https://www.cointrader.net/news "we were informed this morning by our bank that the last remaining Bitcoin-friendly charter bank, Bank of Montreal, is closing all Bitcoin-related business accounts across Canada. Despite the fact that Cointrader has already implemented an anti-money laundering regime to comply with potential FINTRAC regulations which was vetted by BMO itself, the bank has decided to sever our account as well. These actions were taken immediately following the remarks made last week and without any other provocation or evidence of wrongdoing."
